Inkscape - Vector Graphics Drawing Tool
Inkscape is a open source vector graphics drawing tool that uses the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) scalable vector graphics format (SVG). Inkscape is available for Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.
The vector tool known to most people is probably Adobe Illustrator. While Illustrator is a very nice program, it is also very expensive (as the rest of the Adobe family) and only available for Mac and Windows. I wanted a tool I could use on Linux and a web search coughed up Inkscape.
I found Inkscape easy to use and I found the vectors easier to manipulate than those in Illustrator. As of now I have not used the program long enough to present a thorough review but I would definitely recommend it to anyone who needs an alternative to Adobe Illustrator.
